This is an 18k yellow gold c. 1970’s Vintage Cartier Gondole Jumbo Horizontal 40950139. It includes an 18K yellow gold case on an alligator leather strap with a yellow gold tang buckle, and a mineral glass crystal. There is a pull-out winding crown with a spherical grip set with a sapphire cabochon and a solid case back secured with 4 screws and engraved with “CARTIER – PARIS,” and a serial number. The 35mm by 38mm rounded “TV” tonneau-shaped two-body case, hooded lugs, and stepped bezel, are polished. The white dial has blued Cartier sword hour and minute hands with fat black Roman numeral hour indices around an inner railroad-style hour scale. It’s water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Gondole Jumbo Horizontal 40950139 has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 97B (based on the Cartier AS 1760) movement. It’s rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment and it’s constructed with 17 jewels, a monometallic balance, and an index regulator. The movement oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). This watch was introduced in the 1970’s.
