This is an 18K yellow gold Breguet Marine Chronograph Midsize, 8490BA/12/964. The solid three-body case is polished with a rounded stepped bezel, straight lugs with gold screwed bars, and a protected screw-down winding crown. There is a screwed down case back with six screws, and it's water resistant to 30 meters. The alligator leather strap has an 18K yellow gold buckle. The dial is guilloche silver with blued Breguet hands, and painted Roman numeral hour markers on a plain reserve strip. An outer track has minutes/seconds divisions with Arabic numerals every five minutes. The date aperture is a 6 o'clock, along with the small seconds sub dial. The 12-hour and 30 minute sub dials are at 9 and 3 o'clock. The automatic Breguet calibre 576 is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 37 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a monometallic balance adjusted for heat, cold, and 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring, with a 21K gold guilloche rotor. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. In1998, Breguet introduced the world's smallest self-winding chronograph movement. The Marine Chronograph is styled in homage to the earliest marine precision instruments and watches, but with contemporary horologic innovations.
